Professor Ramdas Lamb

“Fabricating Hinduism: Western Distortions of the Tradition, the Reality, and How to Counter them”

Ramdas Lamb is an Associate Professor of Religion at the University of Hawai’i . From 1969 to 1978, he was a sadhu in the Ramananda Sampraday in North India . While his research includes ascetic traditions in India , his primary academic focus has been on Harijan and low caste religious and social movements in India . He is co-founder and president of Sahayog Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps educate rural Harijan (previously referred to as "Untouchable") youth, especially girls, in Central India .

Working to educate people who shape public opinion and public policy in America about Hinduism and Hindu issues
Getting Hindu issues onto the radar of mainstream American media and community groups
