HAF Publishes List of Corrected Errors in Texas Textbooks
The Hindu American Foundation’s (HAF) efforts to transform textbook depictions of Hinduism were capped in November by the state Board of Education’s vote to adopt textbooks.
The Texas Education Agency posted a full list of the factual errors and the publishers’ responses, which can be found here. HAF, as previously noted, took part in the public comment process, and working with other groups, helped to get 100 errors corrected through that process, including its sole submissions, which can be found here.
HAF will continue to work with community members, educators, and other organizations in the state to ensure that the dramatic changes to Texas textbooks continue to be part of a broader effort to treat Hinduism - the world’s third largest religion - on an equal footing as other world religions in the curriculum.
