HAF Welcomes Vibrant Election Campaign for CA-17 Congressional Race

San Jose, CA (February 4, 2014) - The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) today welcomed a vibrant election campaign for California’s 17th Congressional District, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. The race features three Asian American candidates, including incumbent Democrat Mike Honda, Democratic challenger Ro Khanna, and Republican Vanila Singh.
Candidates Ro Khanna and Vanila Singh are also Hindu Americans, living in a district which is home to one of the nation’s largest Hindu American populations. The Foundation, however, reiterated its position of strict neutrality in the race and in all elections for political office.
“As a 501(c)(3) non-profit advocacy organization, HAF is non-partisan and does not endorse or oppose any candidate for public office,” said Samir Kalra, Esq., HAF’s Director/Senior Human Rights Fellow and a San Jose resident. “We look forward to a robust campaign and the opportunity to help educate Hindu American voters about the positions of all the candidates on a range of issues.”
HAF previously created an Educated Voter Guide on a number of domestic and international issues for the Hindu American community to consider when voting during elections.
