Action Alert: Call your Senators today! Urge them to support the Diwali Resolution

Great news! Last week, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) introduced a new resolution, S.Res 291, that “recognizes the religious and historical significance of the festival of Diwali” for Hindu, Jain, and Sikh Americans. So far, S.Res 291 has been cosponsored by Senators:
Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
John Cornyn (R-TX)
Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Joe Lieberman (I-CT)
Mark Warner (D-VA)
Now, we need your help in drumming up support for the resolution. Call your Senators’ office today, and ask them to support S. Res 291, the Diwali resolution!

"Hello. My name is Sheetal Shah, I’m a constituent of Senator Schumer and member of the Hindu American Foundation. I’m calling to request your office to cosponsor Senate Resolution 291, introduced by Senator Menendez last week. The resolution recognizes the significance of Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights. The festival is widely celebrated by Hindu, Jain, and Sikh Americans, of which there are many in the state of New York. This year, Diwali will be celebrated on Oct. 26. I strongly urge the Senator to cosponsor the resolution. Thank you.”
