HAF Wishes You and Your Loved Ones a Happy Diwali (Deepavali) 2016: Sunday, October 30
Whether you are passionate about local education initiatives or international human rights issues, HAF is here for you. Thank you for a being part of the HAF family.
It's back! Our annual Teach about Diwali in School Month is here. Check out our Diwali Toolkit for your class presentation. Contact your children's teachers NOW so they can accommodate your Diwali presentation into their teaching schedule during the month of November.
Teach about Diwali in School Month is a vital part of HAF's education reform efforts. As many of you may have experienced — either first-hand or through your children — the manner in which Hinduism is portrayed in classrooms and in textbooks leaves much to be desired. While HAF is making great strides in our education reform efforts, your role is vital to its success. Your engagement with your local public school is a key step in improving the way Hinduism is taught about and understood in the classroom. So download our Toolkit and reach out to your child’s teacher today!
Our Toolkit is geared for elementary and middle schoolers with fun arts and crafts ideas, community seva projects, and more! Also, check out our:
- Hinduism 101 section, which is a user-driven resource for learning how to teach about Hinduism in the classroom...or even in your home! The modules include visually appealing powerpoints, along with lesson plans and activities that keep children engaged.
- Recommended reading list for children, that includes a series of HAF vetted and approved books by Bharat Babies.
Your participation in Teach about Diwali in School Month is important. It allows you to be a key part of the process to ensure Hinduism is accurately and fairly taught about in our classrooms. Contact your children's teachers today!
